It's just the nature of Downeast maine...

Welcome to the site to share photos and appreciation of the wildlife, nature and beautiful scenery that surrounds us here in Down East Maine, including Washington and Hancock Counties - from Eastport to Bar Harbor, and all points between!
We would love for people all over the world to share and see some of the natural wonders that we get to enjoy in our little corner of Maine every day, season after season. Photo submissions, anecdotes or local information are encouraged as well as links to areas of local interest, including the businesses in our area.

As an original participant in the first National Moth Week of 2012, we are looking forward to the 2019 season!

Moths are plentiful here in our part of Maine, and if you appreciate them, you'll be glad to know that starting in 2012 there is now a National Moth Week! Coincidentally, we're having a lot of moth action here, and not a night goes by that we don't get some neat photos. Even on the rainy nights, the moths are out. If you've ever taken the time to look at them more closely, you'll see that there are great variations even within the same species. Markings will be slightly different, so no two moths are the same.
For identification, sharing, photos and videos, head over to like/follow our Facebook page, Moths of Maine.
